I am 37 and have been playing guitar for 25 yrs. I am a very accomplished player in many styles. I want to know what the best way to make money is besides playing in bars.

  1. Weddings and reception or banquets, are some of the best. You do have to advertise. Leave your card & ad at every place that deals with weddings. (florist, tux shop etc.)
Make your rates very competitive until you have established yourself.
Weddings get old, as you play mostly the same music for years.
The receptions and banquets are better. Most of the audience does not listen, but there are always some who will appreciate your playing.
Make sure you have all the equipment that you need for small or large rooms.
    Good Luck

  2. 1. In a top 40 Cover Band

    2. a Studio Session Player for other Solo Artists or Bands

  3. you could start your own band, or do this alone.
    1. start writing some songs.
    2. make sure you have a computer with a good amount of memory.
    3. make a recording studio in your own house. get one of these recording packs to not break the bank :
    4. record your songs
    5. burn CDs of your songs.
    6. send them to they will pay you money, they will ask for more CDs once a lot of your CDs have been sold.
    i hope i helped.

  4. I hate the bar scene myself. A great place to play are coffee houses. They are everywhere and there is a much better crowd (no drunks), you don’t have to be 21 to get in so you will have a much bigger crowd. Open mic nights are another way to get out there. As for making money, more power to you. I’m from L.A. and the club scene is pretty much pay to play out there.

    Good Luck.
